Our journey to Victoria began with a scenic drive from Portland, Oregon, to Port Angeles, Washington, followed by a relaxing ferry ride across the water. As we approached the city, the anticipation grew. Even the border crossing agent couldn’t help but express his admiration for our chosen accommodation, remarking with a knowing smile, “Oh, roughing it, are we?” This playful comment only heightened our excitement, hinting at the luxurious experience that awaited us.
The beauty of Victoria unfolded before our eyes as we disembarked from the ferry. The city’s charm, coupled with the warm welcome from the Canadian border agent, instantly captured our hearts. His directions led us to the impressive structure of the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort, impossible to miss against the backdrop of the harbor. As we drove, we were treated to a preview of Victoria’s iconic sights: the majestic Parliament Building, the historic Empress Hotel, the vibrant waterfront harbor, and a delightful array of restaurants and shops.

From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with genuine smiles and exceptional service. My husband briefly stopped to assess parking while I checked in, and the doorman/valet went above and beyond to assist me with kindness and efficiency.
At the front desk, Christina’s cheerful demeanor set the tone for a truly memorable stay. Her friendly attitude and helpfulness were greatly appreciated. Throughout our visit, every member of the hotel staff, from the restaurant servers to the fitness center attendants, offered a warm smile and genuine hospitality. These simple gestures made a world of difference, especially after a long journey. Built in 1992 and becoming a Delta property in 2001, the hotel’s architecture seamlessly blends traditional European style with contemporary design elements. This harmonious fusion reflects the very essence of Victoria, a city that effortlessly combines its rich history with modern innovation.

During our stay, our family enjoyed the comfort and spaciousness of one of the 88 Deluxe Water View Rooms. These rooms are designed to provide breathtaking views and a relaxing atmosphere, making them an ideal choice for families and couples alike. The hotel offers a variety of accommodation options to suit every need, including 98 standard non-view guest rooms, 43 Club Level suites, 6 Junior Suites, 2 Penthouse Suites, 2 one-bedroom suites, and the exquisite Olympic View Suite.
The rooms are generously sized, providing ample space for families to relax and unwind. Large windows flood the rooms with natural light, creating an open and airy ambiance. Thoughtful design elements and comfortable furnishings ensure a restful and enjoyable stay for every guest.
Each room is equipped with a SmartDesk, a fully wired, multi-purpose workspace featuring built-in power and connectivity docks. This thoughtful addition caters to the needs of business travelers and those who wish to stay connected during their vacation. Pinpoint reading lights are integrated into the headboards, and bedside outlets are conveniently located in each lamp, providing added convenience and functionality.
The bathrooms are well-appointed and offer plenty of vanity space, while ample closet space ensures that guests can easily store their belongings and maintain an organized environment.
The true highlight of the guest rooms is the breathtaking view. More than half of the rooms offer stunning water views, providing guests with a captivating visual experience. Upon entering our room, we were immediately drawn to the window, captivated by the panoramic vista that stretched before us. It was a truly unforgettable welcome to the city.

We thoroughly enjoyed watching the water taxis, ferries, and seaplanes as they navigated the harbor throughout the day. Despite the constant activity, the rooms remained remarkably quiet. We were pleasantly surprised by the lack of noise from the planes, boats, and even our neighbors. It was one of the few hotels where we truly felt at peace once we closed the door behind us.
The hotel’s waterfront location provided easy access to the harbor, allowing us to stroll along the promenade and soak in the vibrant atmosphere. At night, the city transforms into a dazzling spectacle of lights, with the Parliament Building illuminated in a breathtaking display across the water.

My children always look forward to the hotel pool, as it often determines their overall impression of a hotel. I am happy to report that the pool at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort received a resounding thumbs up from both of them. The pool is a decent size and features varying depths, with a shallow area perfect for younger children and a deeper section for more experienced swimmers. This thoughtful design caters to guests of all ages and abilities.
Adjacent to the pool is a hot tub, which was popular during our visits. Both the pool and hot tub are conveniently located next to the hotel’s well-equipped fitness center. The fitness center boasts a wide range of equipment, including treadmills, weights, and a separate yoga/workout classroom. The locker rooms are spacious and offer showers and private changing areas.
The hotel offers a delightful turn-down service each evening, which my children particularly appreciated. The Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort goes the extra mile by providing high-quality chocolates, a detail that my kids certainly noticed and enjoyed.
A Haven for Family Travel
The Delta Victoria warmly welcomes families, allowing children under 17 to stay free. All children receive special treatment, making them feel just as valued as the adult guests. Upon check-in, our children were delighted to receive Connect Four games, which they immediately played in our room while marveling at the activity in the harbor below.
The hotel also offers a scavenger hunt and nighttime story time by the lobby fireplace, complete with complimentary milk and cookies! Free playpens, cribs, highchairs, and booster seats are available upon request, making family travel more convenient and enjoyable for everyone.
