Trinity Restaurant: A Modern Twist on Louisiana Cuisine in the Heart of New Orleans
Nestled in the vibrant and historic French Quarter, Trinity Restaurant in New Orleans offers a contemporary dining experience that celebrates the rich culinary heritage of Louisiana with a focus on seasonal ingredients and artisanal craftsmanship. Forget the typical tourist traps for a moment; Trinity is where you go to elevate your palate and experience a sophisticated take on beloved local flavors.

New Orleans is a city that pulsates with life, where the food scene mirrors the city’s eclectic character, vibrant culture, and the captivating stories woven into its centuries-old buildings. While no trip to New Orleans is complete without indulging in the quintessential beignets at Cafe du Monde or savoring alligator at Cochon, or even experiencing the legendary Bananas Foster at Brennan’s (the originator!), make sure to carve out time for a truly special dining adventure.
If you’re seeking a modern and refined interpretation of Louisiana cuisine, I wholeheartedly recommend Trinity Restaurant. It’s a place where culinary tradition meets innovation, resulting in an unforgettable meal.
A Tranquil Escape in the French Quarter

Stepping onto Decatur Street in the heart of the French Quarter can be an overwhelming experience. The constant flow of tourists, street performers, and the general commotion can leave you feeling a bit frazzled. However, the moment you step inside Trinity Restaurant, you’ll find a welcome respite from the chaos. The noise fades into a gentle hum, creating a peaceful and inviting atmosphere.
I remember the feeling of relief my daughter and I experienced as we walked through the doors. It was like entering a serene oasis after navigating a bustling maze. The change in atmosphere was immediately noticeable and incredibly welcome.

Trinity embodies the kind of restaurant aesthetic I find particularly appealing: clean white walls, sleek lines, and a modern, monochromatic design. This minimalist approach allows the focus to remain squarely on the food, allowing each dish to truly shine.

Exceptional Service: A Highlight of the Trinity Experience
I must emphasize that the service we received at Trinity was truly exceptional. What particularly impressed me was the way they treated my daughter, who was nine years old at the time. Too often, restaurant staff either dismiss children entirely or resort to talking down to them as if they were much younger. The staff at Trinity, however, treated my daughter with respect and genuine consideration, and she absolutely loved it.

Children often have insightful questions and opinions about food if given the opportunity to participate in the conversation. At Trinity, the staff engaged directly with my daughter, asking her preferences instead of solely addressing me. This simple gesture made a significant difference. Our waitress (whose name I unfortunately can’t recall) listened attentively to her and spoke to her as she would any other adult.
As a result of the attentive and respectful service, my daughter left Trinity with a remarkably positive impression. While she didn’t necessarily adore every single bite or sip (she found the lemonade a bit too sweet), she raved about the restaurant and insisted that others should visit, simply because she felt genuinely respected and valued as a diner.
Now, stepping off my “How to Treat Children in Restaurants” soapbox and moving on to the culinary delights…
A Culinary Journey Through Louisiana’s Flavors
The menu at Trinity Restaurant New Orleans showcases upscale Louisiana cuisine, carefully crafted using fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients. Seafood takes center stage, with the oysters receiving rave reviews (though we didn’t sample them on this occasion). Beyond the seafood offerings, you’ll also discover artfully presented salads, expertly prepared sous vide meat dishes, and a wide array of starters and sides perfect for sharing and creating a memorable communal dining experience.

If you’ve followed my family’s culinary adventures, you’ll know that my children are passionate about French fries. They consider themselves connoisseurs, on a never-ending quest to taste-test every plate, bucket, and mug of fries in existence. Therefore, it was inevitable that we would order a side of Pomme Frites ($7) with butter aioli at Trinity. Both my daughter and I gave them a resounding thumbs up. They were perfectly crisp on the outside with delightfully soft centers – a true testament to well-executed fries.

As I hadn’t yet satisfied my crawfish craving during our New Orleans trip, I couldn’t resist trying the Crawfish and Fontina Beignets ($14) with tarragon aioli. They were simply divine! Imagine light, airy fried dough puffs filled with a creamy, cheesy crawfish mixture. While I would have appreciated a slightly more generous portion of crawfish in each beignet, they were undeniably delicious and a must-try appetizer.

For her main course, my daughter chose the Half-Chicken Three Ways ($28). This dish offered a creative and flavorful exploration of chicken, prepared in three distinct styles. The fried chicken lollipop was a personal favorite, while my daughter particularly enjoyed the chicken thigh. The dish also included Brussels sprouts, which my daughter isn’t particularly fond of, so I happily devoured them – they were perfectly cooked and seasoned.

I opted for the Seared Scallops ($31) entree, which was served atop a bed of creamy corn puree, accompanied by a refreshing tomato and pea pod salad, and finished with a sprinkle of toasted pine nuts. The scallops were impeccably seared, resulting in a beautiful caramelized crust and tender, flavorful interior.
A Sweet Ending: Decadent Desserts

For dessert, we simply couldn’t resist the allure of the dark chocolate truffle cake with blood oranges. The cake was adorned with an artistic chocolate shell, which immediately reminded my children of something from Star Wars.
My daughter and I savored every last crumb of this decadent treat. The cake was rich and intensely chocolatey, yet perfectly balanced by the bright, citrusy notes of the blood orange. It was a truly fantastic ending to a wonderful meal.
Planning Your Visit to Trinity Restaurant

As you can probably tell, I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at Trinity Restaurant New Orleans, and I would return in a heartbeat. Given the restaurant’s upscale ambiance, I recommend dressing up a bit when you dine there. Reservations are highly recommended, as it’s located in a popular area of New Orleans and is a sought-after dining destination.
If you’re dining solo or as a couple, consider requesting a seat at the chef’s table, which offers a captivating view of the open kitchen. For a more private setting, there are also cozy booths available towards the back of the restaurant, as well as a stylish bar area at the front.
My daughter absolutely loved Trinity, and I would gladly bring both of my children (ages 10 and 13) back. However, I would not recommend bringing a baby or toddler, as the atmosphere is more suited for a romantic evening or a sophisticated gathering with friends. It’s a chic, intimate space with a gourmet menu that caters to a more mature palate.
