Each time, Gabriele has graciously offered personalized tours of the property, driving one of their ATVs. As you can see, she’s taking my family and friends on a memorable tour, showcasing the beauty and dedication that goes into every bottle.

From Vision to Vineyard: The Keeler Winery Story

In 1990, Gabriele and her husband, Craig, embarked on their dream, moving to a 200-acre property nestled in Amity, Oregon, just outside of Dundee. Fueled by a shared vision and a tireless work ethic, they transformed the land, which was overgrown with blackberry bushes. They revitalized existing structures, added new ones, and created inviting gathering spaces.

A Commitment to Sustainability: The Biodynamic Vineyard

Keeler Estate Vineyard is a Certified Biodynamic, Organic, Sustainable, and Salmon Safe property. This means they cultivate their vineyards and gardens without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. They adhere to strict international guidelines for environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic accountability. Their Salmon Safe designation signifies their commitment to protecting Oregon’s vital salmon watersheds. This dedication to sustainable practices is what truly sets Keeler apart and allows them to produce exceptional wines while preserving the natural beauty of their land.

This might sound a bit nerdy for some, but their compost system is truly remarkable. Most compost systems emit an unpleasant odor, but Keeler’s aeration process completely eliminates any smell. It’s the richest, most beautiful (and odorless!) compost I’ve ever encountered.

The Wines of Keeler Estate: A Taste of Oregon

And now, for the main event: the wines! These meticulously cared-for grapes produce some truly exceptional wines. Keeler Estate released its first wines in 2011.

The beautiful vineyards contribute to the exceptional wines at Keeler Estate Vineyards.

The vineyard currently cultivates Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and a delightful Rosé. Ranging in price, Keeler wines are competitively priced with other wineries in the region. I particularly enjoy their Rosé and Pinot Gris, and have also savored their Pinot Noir. For a relatively young vineyard, Keeler has demonstrated exceptional skill in nurturing these grapes, resulting in wines that rival those of their established neighbors in the Willamette Valley. I’m eager to continue visiting and witness their continued growth and success.
