Tupelo Restaurant: A Park City Gem Serving Artisan-Sourced, Globally Inspired Cuisine.

Planning a trip to Park City, Utah? Whether you’re hitting the slopes during the renowned ski season or exploring the mountain trails in the summer, a visit to Tupelo is a must. This exceptional restaurant, located on Main Street, offers an elevated dining experience that will tantalize your taste buds and leave you wanting more.

Chef/owner Matt Harris’s passion for globally influenced dishes shines through in every meticulously crafted plate. Tupelo sources artisanal ingredients from small farms and food artisans across the country, emphasizing fresh, seasonal produce. The restaurant beautifully blends these ingredients with local flair, creating a harmonious symphony of flavors.

During a recent summer trip to Park City, my son and I had the pleasure of indulging in the culinary delights of Tupelo. After settling into our accommodations at The Chateaux, enjoying a day of adventure at Park City Mountain, and hiking the scenic Silver Lake Trail, we strolled down Main Street and discovered the culinary haven that is Tupelo.

A Gastronomic Adventure: Exploring the Menu at Tupelo

To begin our dining experience, I opted for a refreshing glass of Cava, a perfect complement to celebrate the end of an active day in the mountains. Tupelo boasts an impressive beverage menu, featuring a curated selection of cocktails, wines, and beers to suit every palate. My son, ever mindful of hydration, chose a tall glass of water. Park City’s higher altitude underscores the importance of staying hydrated, especially when traveling.

Indulge in the Creamy Perfection of Housemade Ricotta at Tupelo.

Our culinary journey commenced with the highly recommended Housemade Ricotta ($12). Served with fragrant herbed olive oil and diced tomatoes, alongside slices of artisanal olive oil bread, this appetizer was a masterpiece. While I have experience making ricotta at home, Tupelo’s version possessed an exceptional texture and a delightful balance of sweet and savory notes. The herbed olive oil, combined with finely diced tomatoes, elevated the dish, transforming it into a sophisticated take on the classic bruschetta.

I’ve also heard rave reviews about the Deviled Eggs ($10), a starter featuring creamy crème fraiche and savory fried country ham.

Next, we sampled the Main Crab Fritters ($16), another dish that came highly recommended. These petite fritters were surprisingly filling, each one brimming with fresh, succulent crab meat (more crab, less filler – a winning combination!). The accompanying hot sauce, pepper slices, and sweet and sour pickles added a delightful contrast of flavors and textures, making this dish an absolute winner in my book.

For my main course, I found myself torn between the Rocky Mountain Elk Bolognese ($24) and Sue’s Maine Mussels ($18 half portion/$27 large). Opting for the half portion of the mussels, I was pleasantly surprised by the generous serving size. Chef Harris’s classic approach to this dish – a simple bath of garlic herb butter and lemon – allowed the inherent freshness of the mussels to truly shine.

Chicken Tenders and Fries at Tupelo Restaurant
Kid-Friendly Delights: Chicken Tenders and Fries at Tupelo.

Tupelo thoughtfully provides a dedicated children’s menu, making it a family-friendly destination. During our visit, we observed several other families enjoying their meals. My son enthusiastically ordered the chicken fingers and fries, giving them a resounding thumbs up. The chicken’s crispy breading, perfectly seasoned without excessive pepper, was exactly as it should be, and the fries boasted the ideal level of crunch.

Despite our full stomachs, the tempting dessert menu beckoned. Unfortunately, we had reached our limit. However, I couldn’t help but be intrigued by Pastry Chef Shirley Butler’s legendary creations, particularly the Sticky Toffee Pudding and Peanut Butter Chocolate Cheesecake. These will certainly be on my list for a future visit!
