André’s Confiserie Suisse: A Culinary Journey to Switzerland in the Midwest
Escape to the heart of Switzerland without leaving the Midwest at André’s Confiserie Suisse. Since 1955, this family-owned establishment has been delighting locals and visitors alike with authentic Swiss chocolates, delectable pastries, and classic Swiss cuisine. Founded by Master Konditor-Confiseur André Bollier and his wife Elsbeth, who brought their passion and expertise from Basel, Switzerland, André’s offers a unique and unforgettable dining experience.

Whether you’re a chocolate aficionado, a pastry lover, or simply seeking a delightful lunch, André’s is the perfect destination. With two locations in the Kansas City area – one on Main Street in Kansas City, Missouri, and the other in Overland Park, Kansas – you’re never far from a taste of Swiss perfection.
A Legacy of Swiss Chocolate Excellence
André’s Confiserie Suisse is more than just a chocolate shop; it’s a testament to the enduring legacy of Swiss craftsmanship and culinary artistry. Now helmed by the third generation, René Bollier, André’s continues to uphold the traditional Swiss methods that have made their chocolates world-renowned.

From the moment you step inside, you’ll be captivated by the aroma of rich chocolate and the sight of beautifully crafted confections. Each truffle, torte, candy bar, and cookie is a work of art, meticulously created with the finest ingredients and an unwavering commitment to quality. The flavors are bold, pronounced, and utterly unforgettable.
André’s doesn’t compromise on quality, and it shows in every bite. Whether you’re savoring a creamy chocolate truffle or a delicate macaron, you’ll experience the true essence of Swiss chocolate excellence.

A Symphony of Sweet Treats
Choosing a favorite dessert at André’s is a delightful challenge. With such a wide array of exquisite creations, each offering a unique flavor profile and texture, it’s hard to pick just one. During a recent visit, we had the pleasure of sampling several desserts, each leaving a lasting impression.

The Chocolate Ganache Cake with Hazelnut Buttercream stands out for its light and airy texture, offering the perfect balance of chocolate and nutty flavors. Each bite is a symphony of sweetness, leaving you wanting more.

The Napoleon, served with a delightful macaron, showcases the artistry and precision that André’s is known for. The beautiful structure and harmonious balance of flavors make it a truly memorable dessert.

For those seeking a lighter, non-chocolate option, the Petit Four is an excellent choice. Its soft and delicate texture, combined with just the right amount of sweetness, makes it the perfect treat to savor on a leisurely afternoon.

No visit to André’s is complete without trying the iconic Matterhorn. This masterpiece combines chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream, hand-sculpted to resemble Switzerland’s famous mountain. Covered in chocolate fondant and topped with white fondant, it’s a sweet and delicious tribute to a beloved landmark.
A Taste of Switzerland Beyond Chocolate
While André’s is renowned for its chocolates and pastries, it also offers a delightful lunch service in the Tea Room at both locations, available from 11 am to 2:30 pm daily. The prix fixe lunch menu, featuring four items, changes daily, offering a variety of flavorful options. However, the Quiche Lorraine and Cheese Pie remain staples, available every day in addition to the rotating selections. Each lunch costs approximately $18 – $19, including tax.
The lunch menu provides an authentic experience of Swiss cuisine, using classic recipes and the finest ingredients. It’s a perfect opportunity to experience the culinary traditions of Switzerland right here in the Midwest.

During our visit, the Beef Pot Pie was a standout. Served with a side of tomatoes and a small soup (possibly butternut squash), the pot pie featured a perfectly buttery, tender, and flaky crust. The beef filling, packed with vegetables, offered a warm and comforting experience on a chilly fall day.

The Cod Casserole, enjoyed by several members of our party, was served with rice and a small salad. The fish was fresh and flavorful, creating a light and satisfying lunch option. The service was attentive and prompt, allowing us to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. André’s is the ideal spot for a relaxing lunch while exploring the nearby Plaza.
And, of course, be sure to treat yourself to some expertly crafted Swiss chocolates and pastries before you leave. With an incredible array of holiday gift sets available, André’s is the perfect place to find unique and delicious presents for loved ones.
