Sisters Saloon: A Must-Visit Restaurant in Sisters, Oregon
Planning a trip to Central Oregon? Make sure to include a stop in the quaint and charming town of Sisters, Oregon. And while you’re there, you absolutely must visit the Sisters Saloon & Ranch Grill. This iconic establishment offers a delightful combination of delicious food, refreshing beverages, and a captivating Old West atmosphere.

During a late summer family road trip, we spent a memorable long weekend in Bend, Oregon. Our family has been visiting Sunriver Resort since my childhood, and it’s a tradition I cherish continuing with my own children. The journey from our home near Portland, Oregon, to Bend is a scenic three-and-a-half-hour drive. For those unfamiliar with Oregon, there are two primary routes: Highway 26 around Mount Hood or I-5 South, connecting to Highway 22 through Salem and past the serene Detroit Lake.
Much of the drive unfolds with picturesque scenes of Oregon’s natural beauty. The landscape is a tapestry of lush forests, winding rivers, and stunning mountain views, providing a perfect backdrop for a relaxing road trip.

As you ascend through the mountains, the landscape gradually flattens out, signaling your approach to the town of Sisters. The most recognizable landmark is the breathtaking view of the Three Sisters Mountains, a sight that truly encapsulates the beauty of the region.

A Culinary Oasis: Sisters Saloon & Ranch Grill
Located just a short 30-minute drive from Bend, Sisters presented the perfect opportunity for a much-needed lunch break. Without a set itinerary, we decided to trust our instincts and step into the first restaurant we encountered, the Sisters Saloon & Ranch Grill. The inviting menu displayed in the window beckoned us inside, promising a delightful culinary experience.

As the name suggests, Sisters Saloon embodies the charm of an Old West saloon and bar. The restaurant is housed within the historic Hotel Sisters building, constructed in 1912. It stands as one of the most photographed landmarks in Central Oregon, meticulously restored to preserve its original Old West character. The Sisters Saloon is a place of history.

Stepping inside Sisters Saloon is like stepping back in time. You’ll find classic swing saloon doors, dark wood furnishings, and historical photographs of Sisters adorning the walls. History enthusiasts will appreciate the glimpses into the town’s rich past. Despite its old-fashioned charm, Sisters Saloon is very family-friendly, offering a menu of modern takes on classic cowboy cuisine, complemented by a selection of Pacific Northwest beverages. As soon as we were seated, our family was eager to explore the menu.
Local Brews: A Taste of Oregon

My husband and I began our meal with a refreshing pint of local beer and cider. He chose a Crux Lager, while I opted for an Atlas Cider, both brewed in nearby Bend, Oregon. Sisters Saloon boasts an impressive selection of local beers from Sisters and Bend, alongside other noteworthy Oregon brews. The saloon is committed to showcasing the best of Central Oregon’s craft beer scene.
Delicious Food: Modern Cowboy Cuisine

With our appetites fully engaged, we started with an order of the Saloon Wings ($10). The wings are served with a choice of sweet or hot BBQ sauce, accompanied by house ranch or bleu cheese dressing, and a side of crisp carrots and celery. The wings were crispy, generously coated in a tangy and delicious sauce. I highly recommend them!

Staying true to the Wild West theme, the burger selection at Sisters Saloon would impress any cowboy. My husband and I shared the Saloon Burger ($13), featuring house butter, crispy bacon, and a delectable garlic aioli. While it may not be diet-friendly, we firmly believe that travel is meant for indulging in good food! The Sisters Saloon burgers are crafted with local, grass-fed beef, resulting in an incredibly moist and flavorful patty. They also offer a Bison Burger ($14) made with Great Plains Bison meat. The restaurant prioritizes locally sourced produce from Central Oregon farms.

For the kids, the choice was simple: kids grilled cheese and fries. As a side note, my kids are currently on a mission to taste-test grilled cheese sandwiches and french fries across the United States, and I plan to share the results next year. Both children gave the Sisters Saloon grilled cheese and fries a resounding thumbs up, confirming its place as a kid-friendly favorite.
Beyond Burgers: Exploring the Menu
In addition to the items we sampled, Sisters Saloon boasts an extensive menu that goes far beyond the typical burgers and fries. For seafood lovers, they offer fresh Columbia River Steelhead ($22) when in season, as well as Traeger Smoked 1/2 Chicken ($16), and Boneless Ruby Trout ($18). The restaurant truly caters to a wide range of palates and dietary preferences.
Vegetarians will also find plenty of appealing options at Sisters Saloon. The menu includes a gluten-free, vegan crispy brussels sprouts appetizer ($7) and a vegetarian lasagna ($14), both of which sounded incredibly tempting.

On sunny days, which are abundant in Central Oregon, you can dine outdoors on the patio, savoring your burgers and beers in the fresh air and sunshine. The patio provides a perfect setting to soak in the atmosphere of Sisters and enjoy the company of friends and family.
Final Thoughts: A Memorable Dining Experience
I truly enjoy the spontaneity of discovering a great lunch spot without any prior planning. Sisters Saloon exceeded our expectations with its exceptional service, friendly and attentive staff, and commitment to using locally sourced ingredients. The food was consistently delicious, and the overall dining experience was memorable.
If you’re planning a trip to Central Oregon and the Bend/Sisters area, I highly recommend stopping by Sisters Saloon for a bite and a beer. It’s a fantastic place to experience the charm of Sisters and enjoy a taste of the region’s culinary offerings. You won’t be disappointed!
