Planning a trip to Honolulu and searching for the perfect place to stay? Look no further than the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort. This luxurious, full-service hotel offers everything you need for an unforgettable Hawaiian vacation, from spacious oceanview accommodations to modern amenities, world-class dining, entertainment, and direct access to the iconic Waikiki Beach.
Hawaii, a true paradise on Earth, has always held a special place in my heart. The radiant sunshine, seemingly endless stretches of sandy beaches, the invitingly warm ocean waters, and the rich, diverse Hawaiian culture create an atmosphere of pure bliss. Each island possesses its own unique charm, offering a variety of vacation experiences. From the volcanic landscapes of Hilo to the family-friendly attractions of Maui, there’s something for everyone. Oahu, particularly its vibrant capital city, Honolulu, seamlessly blends the energy of a bustling metropolis with the relaxed vibes of a beach town. This combination makes it an ideal destination for travelers seeking both excitement and tranquility.
During my visit to Honolulu, I had the pleasure of experiencing the renowned Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort. My trip coincided with covering the 14th annual Spam Jam, and Outrigger Resorts, a sponsor of the event, graciously hosted me at their oceanfront property. I can confidently say that my stay exceeded all expectations. The resort’s prime location directly on Waikiki Beach is undeniably its greatest asset. Waking up to the sound of the waves and the breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean is an experience you won’t soon forget.
Waikiki Beach: A World-Renowned Paradise
Waikiki Beach is deservedly one of the most famous beaches in the world. Its appeal lies in its expansive sandy shores and gentle ocean waters, perfect for a range of activities. From stand-up paddleboarding, boat tours, kayaking, and canoeing to simply splashing around at the water’s edge, there’s something for everyone. The waves are also ideal for beginner surfers, though seasoned surfers may prefer the legendary waves of the North Shore. Situated near the capital city, close to world-class shopping, and in the shadow of the iconic Diamond Head, Waikiki is always a hub of activity, often making it one of the busiest and most popular beaches.
Travel Tip: To avoid the largest crowds, consider visiting Waikiki Beach early in the morning or during the month of April. According to locals, March tends to be packed due to Spring Break, and the summer vacation rush begins in early May. Planning your trip accordingly can help you secure a prime spot on the beach and enjoy a more relaxed experience.
Here are a few snapshots I captured of the stunning Waikiki Beach right from the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort property:
Conveniently, you can rent almost any equipment you might need – surfboards, inflatable tubes, kayaks, and more – from Outrigger business partners with stands located right on the beach in front of the hotel. Prices may vary, so it’s recommended to check them out a day or two before your planned activities. Some rentals require reservations, while most operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Accommodations: Your Home Away From Home
When deciding where to stay in Honolulu, the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort should definitely be at the top of your list. The resort offers a wide array of rooms and suites, designed to cater to various travel needs. Whether you’re traveling solo for business, vacationing with your family, or exploring with friends, you’ll find the perfect accommodation to suit your requirements.

I had the pleasure of staying in a stunning, spacious oceanfront suite that offered breathtaking views of Waikiki Beach and the vast Pacific Ocean, along with a captivating city view. The suite provided the perfect blend of luxury and comfort, making my stay truly memorable.

With two queen beds and a spacious sitting area complete with a sofa and work desk by the balcony, the suite is perfectly configured for a family of four or friends traveling together. The furniture is tastefully styled in calming colors, and subtle Hawaiian touches are present throughout, from the woven textures of the drawers, lighting, and mirrors to the charming hula girl lamps.

The hospitality at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort is truly exceptional. Guests are treated with the utmost care and attention, and everyone receives a complimentary beach bag as a take-home gift. It’s also perfect for carrying your essentials to the beach during your stay!
Hotel Features: Everything You Need for an Amazing Vacation
The Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort offers an array of amenities and services to ensure an unforgettable vacation. The concierge services can assist you in planning your daily adventures, and they were instrumental in arranging my unforgettable helicopter tour over the island of Oahu. I highly recommend this experience and look forward to sharing videos and photos from that tour in a future post! The resort also boasts several on-site restaurants and bars, ample lounge space in the lobbies, a convenient coffee bar and sandwich shop on the first level, a variety of shops selling Hawaiian souvenirs and snacks, and even a UPS store for shipping your extra purchases home.
One of the highlights of the resort is the beachfront pool, located directly on Waikiki Beach. Guests can also enjoy the delicious food and refreshing drinks at Duke’s restaurant and bar, the only truly beachfront dining experience on Waikiki.
Here are a few shots I captured while working poolside. It’s a tough life, I know! 😉

Duke’s Waikiki: Beachfront Dining at its Finest
As a guest of the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, you can conveniently order drinks and food poolside from Duke’s Waikiki. This iconic restaurant offers a true taste of Hawaiian cuisine and hospitality, making it a must-try experience.

The beachside pool is the perfect spot to unwind after a busy day of exploring Honolulu. I highly recommend trying the chicken katsu (pictured above) for a delicious lunch by the pool.
Dining inside Duke’s Waikiki is an unforgettable experience. The restaurant offers stunning views of the beach and ocean from almost every seat, and the open-air design allows you to enjoy the gentle Hawaiian breeze.
My favorite dish at Duke’s: the street tacos, pictured above. SO. GOOD.
Outrigger guests can also indulge in the legendary Duke’s breakfast buffet, which includes one of my all-time favorite breakfast items: fried rice with Portuguese sausage. I wish more places stateside would offer this on their menu!
Getting Around Honolulu: Easy Access to Everything
Guests of the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort benefit from its central location, offering easy access to the city’s best shopping and the iconic Diamond Head. Several FREE trolleys stop near the hotel, and the friendly hotel staff can provide you with trolley maps and information.
Wrap Up: Your Dream Hawaiian Vacation Awaits
I am completely enamored with the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort and eagerly anticipate returning with my entire family for a much-needed vacation someday (hopefully soon!). From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine Aloha spirit. The dining options are superb, the rooms and suites are comfortable and spacious, and you simply cannot beat the proximity to the beautiful Waikiki Beach.
Regardless of your reason for visiting Honolulu, be sure to consider the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort for your next stay! It truly offers the perfect blend of luxury, convenience, and Hawaiian hospitality.
