As a family constantly seeking memorable getaways along the stunning Oregon Coast, the quest for the perfect accommodation is a familiar one. While traditional camping offers a connection to nature, it’s simply not our family’s preferred style. And let’s be honest, hotel costs can quickly escalate, especially for longer stays or larger families. This is precisely where the allure of Oregon Coast Glamping enters the picture – offering a harmonious blend of nature’s embrace and luxurious comfort.

For my family, journeying to the Oregon Coast is more than just a trip; it’s a cherished ritual, a swift escape from the everyday. The drive from our home in Portland typically takes a mere hour and a half to reach the captivating central and northern stretches of the coastline. We embark on numerous family adventures to this magnificent destination throughout the year, and for anyone who has experienced its magic, it’s abundantly clear why we’re drawn back so frequently. The Oregon Coast isn’t just a location; it’s a state of mind, a profound sense of peace that permeates every visit.
The transition from city life to coastal serenity is remarkably swift and utterly captivating. Just thirty minutes west of the greater Portland area, we find ourselves immersed in the dense, verdant beauty of the Oregon forests. The lush greenery unfolds around us, a refreshing prelude to the main event. Then, after a brief, tantalizing clearing, the unmistakable, invigorating scent of the Pacific Ocean fills the air, accompanied by the crisp, cool caress of the coastal winds. It’s a sensory symphony that signals the true beginning of our coastal retreat.
And then, there it is: the expansive, soft sand, gently massaging weary feet with every step. The rhythmic symphony of the waves, crashing and receding, carries away the burdens of daily stress, leaving behind a profound sense of calm. This intimate connection with nature, the raw beauty of the Pacific, the endless horizon – this is my ultimate BLISS, a vital reset for mind, body, and soul.

The beach has always been more than just a destination for me; it’s a sanctuary, a source of profound sanity. While my adventurous spirit yearns to explore every corner of our incredible planet, I honestly cannot imagine calling any place home if it were more than a couple of hours’ drive from a coastline. The vastness of the ocean, its powerful yet calming presence, feels as essential to my well-being as the air I breathe. It’s an irreplaceable connection that anchors me, offering perspective and solace.

Discovering Unique Stays with GlampingHub
In my continuous search for unique and comfortable family accommodations, I recently had the wonderful opportunity to explore the offerings of GlampingHub. I was genuinely impressed and, frankly, quite surprised by the sheer diversity and sheer volume of lodging options available on their platform. For those unfamiliar, “Glamping” is a portmanteau of “Glamorous Camping,” and it perfectly encapsulates the experience of connecting with nature without sacrificing the comforts and luxuries of home. On GlampingHub, you can browse through an incredible array of unique stays: from cozy yurts nestled in the wilderness to elaborate, multi-story treehouses, incredibly sophisticated “tents” that rival five-star hotel rooms, and even charming vintage campers meticulously restored for modern travelers.
Beyond the variety of structures, GlampingHub also provides a broad spectrum of price options, catering to different budgets, and an astounding global reach. Whether you’re dreaming of a glamping retreat in a bustling city, a serene suburban oasis, a secluded country escape, a majestic mountain hideaway, or a sun-drenched beachside haven – you’ll find it there. Each property listed on GlampingHub.com is individually owned and managed, ensuring a unique character and personalized touch to every stay. This decentralized approach creates a vibrant marketplace of truly special accommodations, moving far beyond the typical hotel chain experience and offering travelers something genuinely memorable.
Navigating the website was a breeze. The interface is intuitively designed, making it incredibly easy to search, filter, and compare properties. The high-quality photographs provided for each listing truly bring the accommodations to life, allowing you to envision your stay before you even book. I quickly narrowed down a few exciting options that I believed my family would adore, and the kids had a fantastic time looking through the listings with me, excitedly pointing out their favorites. Ultimately, after much deliberation and consensus, we decided to reserve The Montgomery House in picturesque Bay City, Oregon – a decision we certainly wouldn’t regret.
Our Glamping Gem: The Montgomery House in Bay City
Nestled discreetly on a quiet corner lot within a charming, residential neighborhood, The Montgomery House immediately exuded a sense of welcoming tranquility. This beautiful retreat is lovingly managed by the original owner’s granddaughter, adding a personal touch and a sense of history to its appeal. With lodging rates starting around $176 per night, it represents exceptional value, especially considering its generous size. The house is comfortably spacious enough to accommodate two families, each with 2-3 children, making it an ideal choice for group vacations or larger family gatherings on the Oregon Coast. It has clearly undergone thoughtful remodeling and tasteful updates, seamlessly blending modern conveniences with its inherent rustic charm. The interior boasts a true cabin-like feel, characterized by exquisite wood paneling adorning the walls, warm wooden floors throughout, and a magnificent wood-burning stove that serves as a cozy centerpiece – perfectly setting the scene for an unforgettable Oregon Coast glamping experience.

The house features three distinct bedrooms, each designed for comfort and privacy. On the main floor, you’ll discover a spacious master bedroom, complete with its own attached half-bath for added convenience. Just across the hallway on the same floor lies a second, equally inviting and cozy bedroom, situated conveniently near a full bath. Descending downstairs, you’ll find the third bedroom, thoughtfully equipped with two comfortable twin beds, ideal for children or additional guests. The bed in the master bedroom, in particular, deserves special mention for its incredible comfort – it was so inviting that on one occasion, the kids and I simply piled onto it and spent a delightful afternoon playing Uno, reveling in its unparalleled coziness. It truly became a hub for relaxed family time.
While I didn’t capture photos of the downstairs bedroom or the laundry room – perhaps due to the slightly dimmer lighting that gave my kids a playful “creepy” vibe at night – I can assure you that the inclusion of a full-sized washer and dryer is an absolute lifesaver. This amenity is particularly valuable when traveling with a large group or planning a stay of several days to a week, allowing for fresh clothes and fewer packing worries. I did, however, manage to snap a picture of the downstairs family room, which is strategically located adjacent to the downstairs bedroom and laundry area. This dedicated space is a haven for entertainment, boasting a large television (though without cable, it offers seamless access to popular streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Apple TV), plush, comfortable couches perfect for lounging, and a selection of board games to encourage family bonding and friendly competition.

During our stay, the heart of our family activities gravitated towards the main, upstairs living space. Its brilliant open-concept design seamlessly integrates the kitchen, dining area, and living room into one cohesive and inviting environment. This layout fostered a wonderful sense of togetherness, allowing us to interact and engage with each other whether someone was cooking, dining, or simply relaxing by the wood stove. It truly felt like a home away from home, encouraging connection and shared moments.
As someone who cherishes time spent in the kitchen at home, I was particularly impressed by the modern appliances and high-quality finishings throughout the Montgomery House’s kitchen. It was not only aesthetically pleasing but also exceptionally functional. I found every utensil, pot, pan, and dishware imaginable, making it incredibly easy to prepare and bake a variety of delicious meals for my family. The kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with glassware, plates, cooking utensils, a coffee maker for those essential morning brews, a slow cooker for effortless dinners, a toaster, and much more. This comprehensive stocking meant we could truly enjoy home-cooked meals, fostering a warm, communal atmosphere during our glamping retreat.

One of the simple yet profound joys of our stay was the ability to wake up, wander into the kitchen in my pajamas and without a trace of makeup, and leisurely prepare breakfast. There was no rush, no pressure, just the pure pleasure of staying in late, all cozied up with my family, savoring those precious, unhurried morning moments together. It was these small luxuries that truly defined our glamping experience.

Our days at The Montgomery House were filled with laughter and memorable activities. We indulged in movie nights with freshly popped popcorn, a classic family tradition. The well-equipped kitchen also allowed us to bake batches of warm, gooey chocolate chip cookies, filling the cabin with a comforting aroma. And of course, there were many “serious” games of Uno, competitive yet full of cheer, creating lasting memories for all of us.
A particularly heartwarming memory from that weekend was the opportunity to teach my son how to play the piano. The house, unexpectedly, had a beautiful instrument, and seeing his focused concentration and the sheer delight as he learned his first notes was a true joy. These are the spontaneous, enriching moments that make a glamping getaway so much more than just a place to sleep.

Beyond the comforts of the cabin, we made sure to explore the charming nearby beach towns. Tillamook, famous for its delicious cheese factory, offers a taste of local industry and delightful dairy treats. Garibaldi, a quaint fishing village, provides picturesque harbor views and a relaxed atmosphere. And, of course, no trip to the Northern Oregon Coast is complete without a visit to iconic Cannon Beach, home to the majestic Haystack Rock. All these vibrant destinations are conveniently located within a 30-minute drive of The Montgomery House, allowing for easy day trips and diverse experiences.
Despite being in a residential area, The Montgomery House offers a surprising degree of privacy. It’s set slightly elevated and back from the rest of the neighborhood, providing a semi-private feel. Initially, being accustomed to close neighbors, the lack of curtains in the main living area made me a little nervous. However, I quickly realized that the privacy was genuine. The unobstructed views from inside truly make you feel as if you’re nestled deep within a secluded cabin in the woods. Furthermore, a large, inviting yard surrounds the property, offering ample space for the kids to run and play freely, easily accessible from the downstairs family room.

Had our visit coincided with warmer weather, I can only imagine the sheer delight of spending time on the wrap-around deck. It’s perfectly positioned to capture breathtaking views of the sun rising majestically through the trees, casting a golden glow over the landscape, and later, the spectacular hues of the sunset painting the bay. These moments, even if only imagined, add to the undeniable charm and potential of this remarkable glamping spot.

Our weekend at The Montgomery House was a truly beautiful, sunny escape, perfectly encapsulating the magic of the Oregon Coast and providing a wonderfully rejuvenating time away with my beloved family. We relished all the comforts and conveniences of home, yet simultaneously felt worlds away from the relentless hustle and bustle of everyday life. This unique balance is the essence of what makes glamping such a superior choice for family travel.
