Yay, MONDAY! We get pretty excited about Mondays. Don't get me wrong: We love, love, LOVE weekends as much as the next person, but We also love Mondays! It's like a celebration of the weekend — with the start of another week in which the possibilities are endless. To help YOU celebrate, here's a little somethin' somethin' We worked on this weekend, the Hazelnut Bourbon Sour cocktail.
Hazelnut Bourbon Sour with Frangelico

Have you ever had Frangelico liqueur? It's a hazelnut flavored liqueur that you may recognize because of it's interesting packaging: it sort of looks like a monk. Legend has it that the name, Frangelico, is an abbreviation of Fra' Angelico, a hermit monk believed to have inhabited the Piedmont hills of Northern Italy during the 18th century. More than 300 years ago, Christian monks living in the area were known for their mad skills in the art of distilling, especially incorporating wild hazelnuts.
Mixology Monday: Hazelnut Bourbon Sour
Frangelico is a versatile liqueur that can work in the fall/winter as well as with refreshing spring/summer cocktails. The kind folks at Frangelico sent me a bottle to create some recipes, and We had so much fun with the challenge, since hazelnut is one of the favorite sweet flavor additions.
We've combined it with two of the favorites: bourbon and lemon. Introducing: the Hazelnut Bourbon Sour.

This Bourbon Sour cocktail is light and refreshing but also a fabulous pick me up on a cool fall day. Trust me: We had one Sunday, when Portland suddenly decided it wanted to actually feel like fall at last, and it was a tasty way to warm up on a stormy day.
