Things to Do in Lincoln City: Engaging Activities
Lincoln City is a playground for all types of adventurers, from serene beach lovers to avid shoppers. Its diverse array of activities ensures there’s never a dull moment.
The Majestic Coastline and Beaches
The most prominent and captivating feature of Lincoln City, Oregon, is undoubtedly its magnificent coastline, boasting seven miles of uninterrupted sandy beaches. These vast stretches of sand invite visitors to indulge in a myriad of activities: from tranquil morning strolls collecting seashells to invigorating kite flying, building elaborate sandcastles, or simply relaxing and watching the dramatic Pacific waves crash ashore. The beaches here are perfect for unwinding, creating cherished memories, and witnessing some of the most spectacular sunsets on the West Coast. Beach bonfires are often permitted (check local regulations) and add a magical touch to cool coastal evenings.
Beyond the simple joys of beach life, Lincoln City is famous for its unique “Finders Keepers” program. Throughout the year, local “Glass Float Fairies” hide handcrafted glass floats along the beach for lucky visitors to discover and take home as a special souvenir. This treasure hunt adds an exciting, whimsical layer to any beach visit and is a truly unique Lincoln City experience.
Outdoor Adventures and Nature Trails
For those who love to immerse themselves in nature, Lincoln City offers an abundance of outdoor opportunities. Beyond the immediate coastline, numerous hiking trails wind through lush forests and offer stunning vantage points of the ocean and surrounding landscape. Popular spots for outdoor fun include Devil’s Lake, a freshwater lake perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing. Taft Bay, part of Siletz Bay, is ideal for crabbing, clamming, and wildlife viewing. The Siletz Bay Wildlife Refuge offers serene opportunities for birdwatching and gentle walks, showcasing the region’s rich biodiversity.
Tide Pools: A Window to Marine Life

Exploring the tide pools at low tide is a truly enchanting experience, especially for families with curious children. These miniature ecosystems reveal a fascinating world of marine life, from colorful starfish and sea anemones to scuttling crabs and small fish. Always remember to supervise little ones closely, as waves can unexpectedly rise, and the rocks can be quite slick. The best time to discover the most vibrant marine activity is typically early in the morning during the summertime low tides. It’s a fantastic educational opportunity to observe nature up close and learn about the delicate balance of the coastal environment.
Lincoln City Outlets: A Shopper’s Paradise
When the coastal weather decides not to cooperate, or simply when you’re in the mood for some retail therapy, the Lincoln City Outlets provide an excellent indoor alternative. This popular shopping destination attracts both tourists and Oregonians alike, offering a wide array of brand-name stores where you can find great deals. It’s a fantastic place to stretch your legs and browse stores like Nike, Justice, Old Navy, The North Face, Ann Taylor, Bath & Body Works, and many more. The outlets are conveniently located at 1500 SE Devils Lake Road, Lincoln City, Oregon. For a full directory of stores and current promotions, visit the Lincoln City Outlets website.
Things to Do in Lincoln City: Where to Stay
Finding the perfect place to stay is crucial for any successful getaway. Lincoln City offers a variety of accommodations to suit every preference, from oceanfront hotels to charming vacation rentals.
Coho Oceanfront Lodge
For travelers seeking direct beach access and stunning ocean views, the Coho Oceanfront Lodge comes highly recommended. We’ve enjoyed our stays here in the past, appreciating its prime location right on the beach. It’s an excellent choice for couples looking for a romantic escape or for small families without pets, though they do accommodate small dogs in select rooms. The lodge provides a comfortable and intimate setting, perfect for unwinding to the sound of the waves.
Olivia Beach Vacasa Rentals: Your Home Away From Home
When traveling with our beloved dog, Kirby (affectionately known as Urban Bliss Dog on Instagram), we often opt for the wonderfully pet-friendly Vacasa rentals within the charming Olivia Beach community. This unique neighborhood, designed with a classic coastal village feel, offers a fantastic selection of vacation homes that provide ample space, privacy, and amenities not always found in traditional hotels. In previous years, we particularly loved the “Dog Paddle” house, and most recently, we enjoyed the “Glass Float” rental. These homes often boast features like hot tubs, outdoor showers, fully equipped kitchens, and enough room to comfortably sleep up to eight people.
The beauty of staying in an Olivia Beach rental lies in the sense of community and the freedom it offers. Having separate living areas, multiple bedrooms, and outdoor spaces meant plenty of room for us, the kids, and Kirby to relax and play without feeling cramped. It truly felt like a home away from home, allowing us to fully embrace the relaxed pace of our coastal vacation.
