Craving something sweet and looking to indulge while traveling through New Orleans, Louisiana? Check out District Donuts!

We love doughnuts. And donuts. However you choose to spell it, whether you go for homemade donuts, store bought, or at the cafe, these delightful round puffs of buttery sugary goodness are an indulgence We happily enjoy from time to time.

While visiting New Orleans on our #FollowYourNola trip, we had the pleasure of enjoying some amazing donuts at District Donuts.

District Donuts

District Donuts is to New Orleans what Blue Star Donuts is to Portland: THE BEST.

Here, they make everything from scratch.

They make all of the dough, the glazes, the pastry fillings by hand and never use artificial flavors.

They even make the sprinkles from scratch! Impressive!

There are seven main daily rotations, which include their staples: glazed, cinnamon sugar, and chocolate glazed.

You'll also find creative combos like Lemon Blackberry, S'mores, and Dark Chocolate Raspberry.

They also sometimes have Maple Bacon, which is such a popular Portland flavor at pretty much every donut shop. They sadly didn't have it on the day we visited. We did enjoy the Irish Cream flavor, however. If they have Irish Cream when you visit, be forewarned that it does have some alcohol, so it is not for kids!

They also serve cinnamon rolls with a crazy tasty buttery glaze, and biscuits that are perfectly flaky. With a side of extra butter, of course.

Coffee

We was surprised and happy to learn that District Donuts serves Portland-based Stumptown coffee at all of their locations.

Fries, Salads, Sliders, and more

District Donuts also serves hot menu items throughout the day.

For breakfast, you can order a pork belly breakfast taco ($5.50) or a scrambled egg & cheese biscuit ($4)

From the lunch menu, you can choose from one of three sliders daily: Cheeseburger, Fried Chicken, and Tofu. Since we were here early in the morning, we didn't get to sample these sliders, but We hear from friends that they are AMAZING. Next time, We'm totally trying that fried chicken slider.

Add a side of waffle fries ($2.50) or cheese fries ($4) to go along with your sliders, and you're good to go!

You can also order a little house salad ($4.50) if you are feeling guilty and want to at least appear somewhat healthy.

But seriously: if you're here, you're here for the donuts. And District Donuts absolutely delivers on quality, taste, and pure indulgent goodness.

Visit

District Donuts currently has four locations in Louisiana. We visited the Magazine Street location, which was fairly large and spacious for a donut shop. There was bar seating, as well as a handful of 4-6 seater tables inside and outside of the shop. The staff is helpful and friendly, and they keep the line moving quickly.

Prices are AMAZING here for high quality, artisan level food. Donuts are simply $1.50 – $2.50 each (compared to up to $4 each in Portland!). Sandwiches are simply $3.25 – $4.50. And you can order from a wide variety of coffee, tea, and juices for less than $4 each.
