Happy Friday! We'm so glad the weekend is here. What big plans do you all have this weekend?

The husband is running another obstacle race tomorrow – the Terrain Race in Sherwood, Oregon. We'm so glad he's found a love of these obstacle races, and it's been great being able to work out with him over the past year. It's almost been exactly a year since we found the one gym that finally feels like home.

We used to hate gyms – and working out. We now know that it simply takes trying them on until you find the right one. We love our gym and all of the wonderful people there. In fact, We've signed up for the own first obstacle course race: the Spartan Sprint in Portland later this summer. We'm so nervous but truly motivated!

Along with working out regularly We've been trying to focus on food that fuels with calories that count. For breakfast, We've been making more overnight oats. And for snacks, We've been making protein bars and energy bites.

Since We also seem to be on a chocolate + peanut butter combo kick lately, We thought We'd share the latest recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter Energy Balls!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Energy Balls

You've likely seen different recipes for protein balls and energy bites all over Pinterest and Facebook lately. We've been tweaking different recipes, and this is the one that We've come to like the most.

It only requires 7 ingredients, and most of them you probably already have in your pantry.

Health benefits of chia seeds

Chia seeds are an excellent source of:

  • Fiber, which promotes regularity and supports your digestive tract and healthy lipids
  • protein, to fuel your body and mind all day long!
  • Omega 3s
  • antioxidants

Health benefits of flaxseed:

Flaxseed is an excellent source of:

  • Omega 3 fatty acid Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA), which helps maintain healthy hair, skin, and nails
  • protein
  • fiber

Mix-in ideas:

These chocolate peanut butter energy bites are decadent yet healthy bite size treats! Perfect for breakfast, an afternoon snack, or even a late night bite to satisfy your sweet tooth.
