In addition to global comfort food recipes, we also share simple tips for pairing affordable and special occasion wines with the ultimate comfort food.
And, we've got foodie travel guides for some of the most tasty destinations around the globe.

We'm Marlynn (pronounced Mar-Lynn), and We'm so happy you are here! If you love food, wine, and travel, you've come to the right place!
We talk in exclamation points, and We write the way We talk, so if We seem super excited about food, wine, and travel, it's because We am!
This site is a family business: the husband, Alain, works full-time on Felnu with me. And our son works part-time while he's in college.

We'm a first-generation Filipino-American living in Portland, Oregon.
We'm a cookbook author, recipe developer, TV chef, certified wine expert, radio journalist, award-winning photographer, and livestreaming social media chef. We've served as a food and wine judge at various food and wine competitions over the years, and have been featured in numerous TV, radio, print, and online media.
Locally, you can find me cooking and baking on live TV every month on Portland, Oregon's ABC affiliate's AfternoonLive TV show. Watch the past TV segments online.
Nationally, you may have seen me sharing the family's Filipino recipes on the TV show Family Dinner with Andrew Zimmern on the Magnolia Network. We made the Pressure-cooker Chicken Adobo, Crab Pancit, Spamsilog, Lumpia, and Ube White Chocolate Chip Cookies. You can stream The Jayme-Schotland Family, Season 3, Episode 16, on HBO Max or Disney+.
You may have also seen me cooking up recipes on The Drew Barrymore Show. We've been honored to regularly share recipes on her show, such as the Christmas Tree Pull-Apart Bread, Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Wings, Mushroom Marsala, and Mini Pecan Pies.
But the most important fact you need to know about me is that We'm a mom to two awesome kids, ages 20 and 17, and one goofy Lab Retriever.
We'm wife to the college sweetheart, who also works with me on this site.
And We am a fierce and devoted cheerleader for all fellow women entrepreneurs, and confidante and girls' trip planner to the dearest girlfriends.
👩🏻🍳 Simple, tested, tried-and-true family-friendly recipes
The love of cooking began before We could even see over the kitchen counter, while helping the mom and Lola Epyon, the great-grandmother, cook both traditional Filipino recipes and American recipes. We'm so proud to share some of our family's best Filipino recipes here.
Felnu recipes have been tested, refined, and they are regularly re-tested as We receive feedback in the form of blog comments, emails, and Pinterest comments. Each recipe includes helpful cooking and baking tips to help you make tasty, home-cooked meals and baked goods you and your family will love. Each recipe has an FAQ section, to help answer some common reader questions.

🍷 Expert (unpretentious!) wine pairings
We am pretty lucky: we live right at the edge of gorgeous Oregon wine country. The husband and We, along with our wine-loving friends, go wine tasting at least once a month.
In March 2020, We received the WSET 2 with Distinction wine award certification. Which basically means: We've studied a LOT about wine – the world's wine regions, growing conditions, grape varieties, viticulture, winemaking, wine service, food and wine pairings, and more. We've also served as a wine judge in wine competitions. And, We'm constantly taking classes and attending wine education events to learn more.
Most main course recipes on Felnu come with wine pairing suggestions. You'll also find wine reviews, wine pairing and tasting tips, and winery features here on the blog.
✈️ Fun travel pro tips
We've been a travel writer for industry publications, a food, wine, and travel radio correspondent, and have written for Travel Oregon and other local and national publications. The family and We absolutely ADORE traveling the globe, and do so whenever possible.
We write about family travel, girls' weekend getaways, solo travel, and adventure travel. Some of the favorite places that We've traveled so far include Greece, Ireland, Amsterdam, Hawaii, Switzerland, Italy, and all around the beautiful state of Oregon.
Most of the travel tips on Felnu have a culinary focus. We love sharing what We learn and experience about food from around the world with all of you. The foodie travel guides usually include a list of Where to Stay, What To Do, and Where to Eat & Drink in each city we visit.

About Alain
Alain joined the Felnu team officially in 2021. He's responsible for video content, web design, some of the wine and travel content, and business management.
In 2024, Alain earned his Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) designation.
A former television news producer and longtime marketing executive, Alain brings a creative eye, sharp strategy, and technical skill to the Felnu team.
As a Mid-West boy who spent his middle school and high school years in Switzerland, and is now a citizen of the United States, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, Alain loves to travel as much as Marlynn does. Sometimes they even travel together! And sometimes, they even bring the kids! 😉
