During a recent trip with my children, centered around a visit to the delightful Provisions Market Hall, we had the distinct pleasure of experiencing the unparalleled hospitality of the Inn at the 5th. Our stay was, quite simply, exceptional, leaving us eager to share our experience and recommend this gem of a hotel to fellow travelers.

The Inn at the 5th enjoys a prime location in downtown Eugene, strategically positioned adjacent to the charming 5th Street Public Market. From the moment you step inside, you’re enveloped in an atmosphere of refined elegance. The boutique hotel boasts a beautifully designed lobby, where guests are greeted with genuine warmth by the attentive front desk staff. Check-in is swift and seamless, allowing you to quickly begin your relaxation. The lobby exudes a modern yet comfortable vibe, showcasing impressive artwork throughout (a theme that continues throughout the hotel) and offering ample comfortable seating areas, perfect for unwinding or socializing.
Our visit coincided with the holiday season, and the hotel was adorned with tasteful and enchanting decorations, both inside and out. The festive ambiance added an extra layer of magic to our stay.
Upon check-in, guests are graciously offered a choice of complimentary beverages, including wine, beer, water, and a selection of non-alcoholic options. After enduring a particularly challenging drive from Portland, battling unusually strong winds, I eagerly accepted a refreshing glass of wine. It was the perfect welcome after a long journey.

Following our warm reception and efficient check-in process, we made our way to our Superior Double Queen room with a balcony, located on the third floor. The moment we stepped inside, the room exceeded all expectations, eliciting delighted exclamations from my children.
Our room was thoughtfully designed and generously proportioned, featuring two exceptionally comfortable queen beds, a cozy gas fireplace, a large flat-screen TV, a convenient seating and dining area, and a plethora of conveniently located outlets throughout the room. These thoughtful details made our stay exceptionally comfortable and convenient.
Compared to other in-city hotels we’ve experienced, the guest rooms and suites at the Inn at the 5th are notably spacious. In addition to the King bed guestrooms and the Superior Queen bed guestrooms, guests can choose from a variety of suites, which offer even more space and additional seating/living areas. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with a family, you’re sure to find the perfect accommodation to suit your needs.
My daughter particularly loved the charming balcony that accompanied our room, complete with bistro chairs and a table, offering a pleasant view of the 5th Street Public Market and the downtown Eugene skyline. Despite the hotel’s central location, our stay was remarkably quiet and peaceful. While the absence of many University of Oregon students, who were away for the holiday break, likely contributed to the tranquility, the hotel’s location slightly off the main street suggests that it remains relatively quiet even during peak school times.
Our bathroom was both large and modern, featuring a spacious shower, a convenient double-sink vanity, and ample space for an entire family to comfortably get ready at the same time. The well-designed layout ensured that we never felt cramped or rushed, even during the morning rush.
Our room also offered generous storage and closet space, ensuring that we had plenty of room to unpack and keep our belongings organized throughout our stay. This is a particularly valuable feature for families traveling with multiple suitcases.
Each room is also equipped with a coffee maker, a refrigerator, and a convenient side counter, allowing guests to easily prepare and enjoy beverages and snacks in the comfort of their own rooms. This thoughtful amenity adds an extra layer of convenience and flexibility to the stay.
Experience the Convenience of the Complimentary Hotel Shuttle
The luxurious Mercedes Benz town car pictured above is the Inn at the 5th’s complimentary hotel shuttle. Guests can reserve this stylish vehicle to be transported to and from any location within a four-mile radius of the hotel, including the Eugene airport. This service is particularly convenient for parties of two or three.
During our stay, we had several destinations to visit in addition to Provisions Market Hall. I decided to leave our car parked in the hotel lot via valet parking and take advantage of the complimentary Mercedes Benz shuttle for transportation to and from breakfast on our final morning. This proved to be an incredibly convenient and stress-free experience.
HOTEL TRAVEL TIP: Whenever possible, take advantage of complimentary hotel shuttles. In addition to the sheer convenience, it’s a wonderful opportunity to chat with locals (the shuttle drivers) and gain insights into their favorite dining and entertainment spots. While they may initially mention popular tourist attractions, engaging in further conversation can often lead to the discovery of hidden gems, such as the fantastic diner we stumbled upon after our first breakfast choice was unexpectedly closed for renovations. Indulge in the Luxury of Room Service
Room service is an essential amenity for me, whether I’m traveling with my children or venturing out on a solo adventure. I simply adore the convenience and luxury it provides. It offers a unique blend of indulgence and comfort, creating a cozy and homey atmosphere within the hotel setting.
My son’s absolute favorite feature of our guest suite at the Inn at the 5th was undoubtedly the unique Butler’s Pantry. This innovative feature consists of a panel located beside each guest suite’s front door, incorporating an opening accessible from the hallway for hotel staff. Food and drinks are discreetly placed through this panel opening into an area accessible from inside the room, which can be securely locked from the inside. My son found this to be incredibly cool, earning the Inn at the 5th major bonus points in his estimation!
The room service menu is curated from a selection of dishes offered at the adjacent Marché restaurant.
I opted for the steak frites, which proved to be an exceptional culinary experience. The steak was expertly cooked and seasoned to perfection, the pomme frites were perfectly cut and seasoned, and the dish was accompanied by a refreshing side salad.
My children couldn’t resist stealing a generous portion of my fries. They were undeniably delicious, and we all thoroughly enjoyed them.
My children chose to share the pizza margherita, which was a resounding success with my notoriously picky eaters. The portion size was generous, especially considering that they had been indulging in the culinary delights of Eugene throughout the day (not to mention their pilfering of my fries…). The pizza was undoubtedly exceptional, featuring a delightful homemade tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and thinly sliced basil, all atop a perfectly crisp crust.
Unadulterated Hotel Bliss: A Truly Memorable Experience
I can honestly say that I have nothing but positive things to share about the Inn at the 5th. It’s not only a wonderful destination for a romantic getaway (be sure to explore their special packages) or a memorable family weekend, but it’s also a pet-friendly establishment! The hotel is impeccably designed and decorated, featuring guest rooms that are thoughtfully planned and generously sized. The array of amenities includes the first-floor Gervais Aveda Salon & Day Spa, convenient in-room spa services, a well-equipped on-site fitness room, and, of course, complimentary (and reliable!) WiFi access.
Both of my children thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and I must commend the entire staff at the Inn at the 5th for providing my children with the attention and respect that all hotel guests deserve. They made my children feel just as valued as every other adult guest, a gesture that resonates deeply with this mother.
I wholeheartedly recommend considering this exceptional hotel if you’re planning a trip to or through Eugene, Oregon! You won’t be disappointed.
