Did you know that July 24th is National Tequila Day? While many may scoff at the seemingly endless stream of national food and drink days, these occasions can sometimes lead us to discover a newfound appreciation for something we once thought we disliked. Take tequila, for instance.

For many, tequila conjures up memories of less-than-pleasant college nights, often followed by a feeling that rivals eating the most spoiled food imaginable. It’s safe to say that for some, tequila was definitely not a friend.

However, perceptions can change. Over the past few years, I’ve slowly reintroduced tequila into my repertoire. It works wonders in Cantaloupe Margaritas, adds a kick to these tasty Tequila Mojitos, and even serves as an excellent marinade for grilled chicken. And now, I’ve discovered that it’s possible to pair tequila with one of my all-time favorite flavors: wine!

Intrigued? You should be! In honor of the upcoming National Tequila Day, I’m excited to share a super refreshing, unique, and utterly delicious cocktail recipe that subtly highlights tequila’s character while harmonizing it with the robust flavors of hibiscus and Grenache.

The Hibiscus Cocktail Cooler is a drink that transcends seasons, but it shines particularly bright during those warm summer evenings when the air begins to cool. Imagine sitting outside, breathing in the sweet summer air, perhaps with a lightweight sweater draped over your shoulders, gazing up at the stars as they twinkle in the night sky. This cocktail perfectly complements those moments.

This cocktail features a mixer that was new to me, infused with the vibrant flavors of hibiscus and Grenache. Unlike some overly sweet mixers, this one offers a more balanced profile, with bold and elegant flavors that truly stand out.

The generous folks at Stolen Fruit Cocktail Mixers recently sent me a selection of their mixers to sample. Crafted by grape growers and a chef from Sonoma County, one of my beloved wine regions, Stolen Fruit products are non-alcoholic, grape-based mixers that pair beautifully with or without alcohol. I was immediately drawn to the creative flavor combinations and the remarkable versatility of these mixers. They’re a fantastic way to elevate your cocktail game.
