Despite its size and spaciousness, the restaurant’s layout is thoughtfully designed with charming nooks and crannies. This creates an atmosphere that evokes the feel of a bustling yet intimate Irani café from the 1930s. Here’s a glimpse of the delicious dishes we enjoyed during our recent visit to Dishoom restaurant in the heart of Covent Garden.

A Sweet Start: The Sweet Uttapam Stack

Pancake aficionados will be delighted by the Sweet Uttapam Stack. Uttapam is a South Indian dosa made with a fermented lentil and rice batter, similar in texture and appearance to a pancake. This dish is a true signature of Dishoom, paying homage to its South Indian roots while embracing the global spirit of the restaurant’s menu.

A triple stack of fluffy uttapam is generously topped with creamy shrikhand (a sweet, strained yogurt), fresh seasonal berries, toasted coconut flakes, and a drizzle of rich jaggery syrup. The combination of textures and flavors is simply divine – a sweet and satisfying start to the day.

A Healthy Choice: The House Granola

For those seeking a lighter and healthier option, the House Granola is a popular choice. This dish is perfect for minimalists who want a nutritious and refreshing way to start their day.

Dishoom’s granola is a carefully crafted blend of toasted oats, seeds, cashews, almonds, pistachios, and a hint of cinnamon. It’s then topped with a generous dollop of creamy yogurt and an array of fresh, seasonal fruits. The result is a flavorful and satisfying bowl that’s both healthy and delicious.

Perhaps the most popular and highly acclaimed breakfast items on the Dishoom menu are the legendary breakfast naan rolls. This iconic dish is an absolute must-try for anyone visiting Dishoom!

During our visit, we couldn’t resist ordering both a Bacon Naan Roll and a Sausage Naan Roll to sample the best of both worlds.

The crispy bacon naan roll features layers of perfectly streaky bacon, cooked until smoky and delicious, all wrapped in a freshly baked, pillowy-soft naan bread. It’s then generously slathered with a tangy tomato-chili jam and sprinkled with fresh herbs for an added burst of flavor.

The sausage naan rolls follow a similar concept, but instead of bacon, they are filled with succulent Shropshire pork sausage. Both variations are equally delicious and satisfying.

The breakfast naan rolls perfectly blend British breakfast staples with Indian culinary flair, creating a truly unique and unforgettable dish.
