Add a touch of elegance to your Thanksgiving festivities with our free wine tag printables! They are the perfect addition to your hostess gifts or to enhance your fall table wines. But first, let’s talk about some amazing wines to pair with your Thanksgiving feast.

It’s Wine Wednesday! Before we dive into the wonderful world of wine, let’s touch on something a little different: food intolerances. Recently, I underwent testing for food intolerances due to a long-standing battle with severe eczema. It has been an increasingly challenging and painful condition.
After numerous scratch tests for environmental triggers proved inconclusive, I consulted a fantastic new naturopath. She suspected that food might be the underlying cause of my skin flare-ups. Thus, I was tested for food intolerances.
The results are in, and thankfully, they aren’t as drastic as I feared. However, they do necessitate a significant dietary change. I’ll share the complete results soon, along with a recipe that caters to those with common food intolerances. Stay tuned!
But today, we celebrate Wine Wednesday and the joyous news that I have no allergies or intolerances to wine! A sigh of relief!
Can you imagine being a food and wine blogger who can’t drink wine? That would be quite a challenge! 😉
And as a special Wine Wednesday treat, I’m sharing FREE Thanksgiving Wine Tag printables with you!
So, let’s get to the wine! Specifically, let’s explore some excellent options from Columbia Crest.
Columbia Crest Fall 2024 Releases: A Wine Lover’s Delight

Columbia Crest, part of Ste. Michelle Estates, is a renowned winery from Washington State. Chances are, if you’re in the United States, you’ve not only heard of them but have likely enjoyed their wines. They boast widespread distribution and produce substantial quantities of wine.
This award-winning vineyard is celebrated for crafting consistent, approachable wines at reasonable prices. I often choose their premium wines as hostess gifts for dinner parties and special events. They are always well-received and appreciated.
Columbia Crest 2012 Limited Release Gold Red Wine: An Exceptional Experience
Each year, the skilled winemakers at Columbia Crest carefully select a few exceptional barrels, believing they represent the “Gold” standard of the Columbia Valley. These barrels are then transformed into the limited release Gold Red Wine. This is a sought-after expression of their terroir.

I was particularly eager to sample this wine. In my experience, limited releases are often extraordinary, surpassing the quality of traditional annual releases. Winemakers dedicate immense care to creating limited release wines, reveling in the opportunity to experiment, innovate, and push the boundaries of their craft. The goal is to develop small batches of the very best wine they can produce.
The Columbia Crest 2012 Limited Release Gold is a red wine blend consisting of 52% Cabernet Franc, 38% Syrah, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Merlot. It’s a bold and spicy red wine that boasts flavors of sweet raspberries, dark chocolate, and hints of dark berries. This wine would be an outstanding complement to a holiday meal, pairing perfectly with hearty main courses like beef tenderloin. It’s also an exquisite wine to savor on its own, while relaxing by the fire with good friends and plenty of laughter.
Columbia Crest Grand Estate Fall Releases: Red Wine Selections
Columbia Crest’s Grand Estate wines generously shared five of their latest releases with me. These wines are widely available across the country, with a suggested retail price of around $12 per bottle. An excellent value for the quality.
- Columbia Crest 2012 Grand Estates Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley: This is the boldest of the Grand Estate Reds (excluding the Limited Edition Gold). This Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich, silky, and satisfying experience. It could almost be enjoyed as a meal on its own. But if you prefer to pair it with food, choose something equally substantial, such as a grilled steak or braised short ribs.
- Columbia Crest 2011 Grand Estates Red Blend Columbia Valley: This blend is a light and lively red wine, composed of 61% Merlot, 27% Syrah, 6% Cabernet Franc, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% of an unspecified “other” varietal (intriguing!). It’s a pleasant blend, although not my personal favorite in the lineup. It’s perfect for sharing with friends over conversation or curling up with a good book on a quiet Saturday afternoon.
- Columbia Crest 2012 Grand Estates Syrah Columbia Valley: My first impression of this wine was that it was a bit brooding. However, it gradually opened up to reveal a slightly peppery, deeply aromatic red wine filled with dark fruit and cedar notes. I thoroughly enjoyed this Syrah with a chocolate dessert. Or perhaps a few chocolate desserts…
Columbia Crest Grand Estate Fall Releases: White Wine Selections
- Columbia Crest 2012 Grand Estates Chardonnay Columbia Valley: A bright and fruity aroma characterizes this Chardonnay, making it a lovely pairing for light pasta dishes or salads. It would also make an excellent cooking wine. And by cooking, I mean in the style of Julia Child: a little wine for the dish, and a little more for the chef!
- Columbia Crest 2013 Grand Estates Pinot Gris Columbia Valley: This Pinot Gris is a crisp, slightly nutty, and fruity wine. It’s lively and cheerful, making it a delightful accompaniment to seafood dishes.

You can find these Columbia Crest Grand Estate Fall release wines online or at your local retailer/grocery store.
