During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of experiencing both the North and South Shores of Kauai. While the North Shore offered its own charm, with a delightful stay at the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas, the South Shore, and specifically the Sheraton Kauai Resort, truly stole my heart.

Sprawling across 20 acres of Kauai’s picturesque southern coastline, this resort provides unparalleled ocean views, delectable Hawaiian cuisine, and embodies the genuine Aloha spirit. Its central location provides easy access to nearby shopping centers, some of the island’s finest restaurants, including Merriman’s Fish House, and a variety of cultural experiences.

The resort’s expansive layout creates a sense of grandeur. Take your time to wander from the lobby to your room or suite, enjoying the meticulously maintained grounds that are stunning both during the day…

…and even more enchanting at night! The soft glow of the fire pits and the gentle ocean breeze create a magical ambiance perfect for relaxation and romance.

Poipu Beach: A Hawaiian Gem

Poipu Beach’s pristine white sands have earned it recognition as one of Hawaii’s best beaches by numerous travel publications and are cherished by locals. Its inviting waters and breathtaking scenery make it a must-visit destination.

The Pacific Ocean offers gentle waves and calm conditions for most of the year, making Poipu Beach perfect for a variety of activities, including swimming, snorkeling, boogie boarding, and even surfing for beginners. Dive into the crystal-clear waters and discover the vibrant marine life that calls this beach home.

Keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife that frequents the shore, including the endangered monk seals. From December to April, witness the majestic humpback whales as they migrate through the waters – a truly unforgettable experience best enjoyed from the oceanfront rooms! Pods of playful Spinner Dolphins often follow fishing and snorkeling boats, and Green Sea Turtles, another endangered species, can be spotted gracefully swimming just offshore.

The Sheraton Kauai Resort boasts 391 beautifully appointed rooms, including 11 spacious suites, spread across eight buildings. Accommodations are categorized into two distinct sections: the Garden Wing and the Ocean Wing. Each offers a unique perspective of the resort’s stunning surroundings.

During my stay, I was fortunate enough to reside in the Ocean Wing, where I was treated to AMAZING ocean views! The spacious balcony provided the perfect vantage point to soak up the beauty of the Pacific. Imagine waking up to the sound of the waves and the sight of the sun rising over the horizon – pure bliss!

Working from the balcony with a refreshing cocktail in hand was an absolute pleasure. The soothing sound of the waves provided a calming backdrop, yet the balcony doors effectively blocked out any noise when closed, creating a peaceful and productive workspace.

Rooms are available with either one king-size bed or two double beds, catering to various traveler needs. Families will appreciate the complimentary cribs and the fact that children (17 and younger) stay free. Rollaway beds are available for an additional $70 per night.

As a frequent business traveler and a family travel enthusiast, I always prioritize the availability and functionality of power outlets in hotel rooms. The Sheraton Kauai Resort excels in this area, providing a fabulous charging station in each room, complete with ample power outlets and USB ports to keep the entire family’s devices charged and ready for the day’s adventures!

RumFire Poipu Beach, the resort’s signature restaurant, is an absolute must-try! The innovative menu, crafted with fresh, local ingredients, combined with the stunning oceanfront setting, creates an unforgettable dining experience. I was so impressed with RumFire that I’ll be dedicating an entire blog post to it soon!

For a more relaxed atmosphere, head to Lava’s on Poipu Beach, the poolside bar and grill. Enjoy refreshing cocktails and tasty snacks while soaking up the sun. The Link@Sheraton, located near the lobby, offers convenient grab-and-go food and drink options, including delicious smoothies – perfect for a quick and healthy treat.

Alongside the stunning Poipu Beach, the resort boasts an impressive Oceanfront Pool, providing the perfect place to cool off and relax.

The cabanas at the Oceanfront Pool are truly exceptional! Whether you are seeking a romantic escape or a family-friendly retreat, the cabanas provide the ultimate in poolside luxury.
